Renovation Project: School for the Visually Impaired

The Renovation Project for the School for the Visually Impaired Children aims to improve the living conditions for visually impaired and low-vision students in the Khomasdal region of Windhoek. The project, currently in the execution phase, focuses on refurbishing the hostel facilities to create a more comfortable and inclusive environment for the students. The School for the Visually Impaired in Khomasdal, Windhoek requires urgent renovations to ensure a conducive learning environment for visually impaired and low-vision students. The project is hoping to support visually impaired and low-vision students, aged pre-grades to grade 11, at the School for the Visually Impaired Children. The project aims to address the immediate needs of the school by renovating the hostel facilities, including repainting the blocks and enhancing living areas.

The hub activities for this project are:


  1. Procurement of necessary supplies and materials for renovation.

  2. Site visit with Engineers Without Borders for technical support.

  3. Repainting of hostel blocks and renovation of living areas.

The hope it to create a lasting impact by providing visually impaired students with an improved and inclusive learning environment. So far NAD 17,000 has been raised, and 4 bedrooms and the corridors at the girls’ hostel block repainted. To achieve some of this success the hub partnered with Engineers Without Borders Namibia Namibian Society of Engineers Impact Tank Namibia
