SDG Action Workshops

Problem Statement:

  • Low awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals among students

  • Limited contextualization and localisation of the Goals to an average Mumbaikar's life

  • Interested citizens lack enough knowledge on how to create impact

Proposed Solution:

The Mumbai Hub is increasing awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals. SDG Action Workshops are expert-led workshops with school children, supported by on-the-ground action. While workshops are designed to create an impact on all the goals, the focus is primarily on SDG 5: Gender Equality and SDG 6: Access to Clean Water and Sanitation.

Hub Activities:

After providing an introduction to the SDGs, the workshops focus on actionable items. The students are asked to reflect on their daily life and connect them to a goal. They are then asked to develop a solution to meet the goal. The Mumbai Hub then reviews the action points and designs ways for them to further develop their solution. The hub works with the school to co-create the solution as a social impact project that can be implemented by the students.

Impact:

  • Partnership with Teach For India schools

  • Executed workshops on 2 SDGs- Clean Water and Gender Equality in 2 schools and mentored >50 students
