Senegalese Women and Sexual Based Violence

Falling under the "Equity and Inclusion" impact area, this project set out to raise awareness about Senegalese women's experiences in the context of the pandemic and proffer practicable solutions to women living in precarious conditions due to the pandemic.

Carried out in collaboration with UN Women, Senegal and Pathfinder Foundation as part of the 16 days of activism against sexual based violence from November till December 2020, the target population were women and girls, with more focus on less financially stable population. Due to the fact that the higher percentage of violence against women and girls is done by men and boys, the latter were also a part of the project's primary audience.

The project which included an online campaign and an open round table discussion, aimed to reach out to women who were in precarious situations at home or in their places of work due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Besides reaching out to women, this project also aimed to create a viral discussion on the increasing levels of violence against women in COVID-19 Senegal.
