Global Shapers Peshawar Hub has partnered with Helping Youth Pakistan, founded by Shahid Ali khan, a newly recruited Shaper. This youth lead volunteer organization is based in Peshawar and has been engaging young people in volunteerism to help the underprivileged sections of our society since 2015 in their flagship project named Shan-e-Ramzan.

Shan-e-Ramazan is three phase project that aims to help the underprivileged during the month of Ramadan, a month of fasting, reflection and sacrificing observed by Muslims from around the world. The three phases include:

  1. Ramadan Ration Distribution to families in Peshawar. This phase starts with raising funds before the month of Ramadan so as to facilitate these families before the new month begins.

  2. Distribution of Iftaar food packs amongst more than 300 people at Govt. Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar on daily basis for the entire month of Ramadan to feed needy people as they end their fast at sunset.

  3. Distribution of Eid Gifts amongst children living in Afghan Refugees Camps in Peshawar.

The goal of this project is to empathize with the underprivileged sections of society and help them ease their problems through sharing with generosity. The project aims to engage people from the community to help the needy in improving their overall wellbeing but particularly focusing on increasing food security.

The project goal is to involve all layers of society by collecting funds from the general public, engaging passionate young people in providing volunteer services and finally facilitating the marginalized sections of this community, in an effort to embody the essence of Ramadan.

The project has facilitated nearly 1,850 families with Ramadan food ration and provided iftaar food packs to more than 45,000 people in Peshawar since 2015.
