Shapers Connect: Promoting COVID-19 Global Solidarity

During these unprecedented times, more than ever before, we need solidarity, hope and collaboration to see the COVID-19 crisis through together. Global Shapers Community provides a shared platform for Shapers to communicate and collaborate. New York Hub and Beijing Hub are coming together to lead the Shapers Connect Project, an online cross-Hub webinar series that encourages Shapers from various Hubs across the world to share their experience responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the best practices of their Hub engagement. Shapers can be sharing formally or informally from the professional, Hub and personal perspectives, and inviting professionals and friends to join and share their best practices as well.

This series is aimed to socially connect Shapers from different Hubs globally during the social-distancing time, and potentially find synergies and promote global solidarity in fighting COVID-19 on a Global Shapers level and more.

Any online sessions related to this topic are encouraged to engage with us to make the impact bigger. Let’s make the Shapers voices heard!

Roundtable: REIMAGINE EDUCATION - How Young People Can Help Bridge the Digital Divide

Digital education divide refers to inequalities in access to technology as well as the imbalances in resources and skills needed to effectively participate as a digital citizen. It's a problem in many regions globally for many years, and is seriously exposed by the COVID-19. According to UNESCO, schools across the world that are forced to close and switch to online teaching due to the global pandemic has impacted more than 1.5 billion children and young leaders, leaving millions of poor children out to education as a result of a lack of digital devices. This time, we will bring 4 young people from Project Guangyuan, Global Shapers at Lagos, Madrid and Shanghai Hubs to share their thoughts about education in COVID-19 and their actions to bridge education divide. As Professor Klaus Schwab once said during a Global Shapers Town Hall Meeting, "Young people and better use of technology are the two main drivers to help us reimagine, redesign and rebuild a new system", this virtual roundtable will offer an oppotunity to help us reimagine education in the post-COVID-19 world.
