Impact

Shaping Data Workforce

Problem

This project aims to help bridge the data skill gap among under-represented communities to help them take the next step in Data Science careers.

Solution

This project is a collaboration between the San Francisco hub with the Palo Alto Hub. The project partners with Historically Black Colleges, Universities and NPOs working with beneficiaries who could benefit through this initiative. The project team shall source instructors to conduct live Data Science Bootcamps with students looking to navigate their Data Science career and connect them with mentors.

  1. Data Science bootcamps would be structured such that they are beginner friendly

  2. Students looking to get 1:1 mentorship within the cohort will be matched to a mentor

  3. Students would stay connected with instructors and mentors through a slack channel

  4. Continue to improve learning outcomes through feedback

Target

The project is focused to teach students from underrepresented communities like BIPOC, women, or students from low-income groups. Between Jan and Sep, we have taught over 1000 students through our partnership with 7 Universities in India, Africa, and US.

Goal

The initiative aims to help learners from under-represented communities get access to quality Data Science curriculum and connect them with mentors to help them navigate their Data Science Careers.

Impact

To get more young professionals from under-represented populations into and data science and to help them grow their skills, experience, and confidence.
