This project is part of the Global Shapers Community cross-hub initiative Shaping Disability.

Problem Statement

According to Women Enabled, 1 in 5 women worldwide is a woman with a disability. Physical, information and communication barriers can prevent women, girls, and gender non-conforming persons with disabilities from equal participation. Efforts to include women, girls, and gender non-conforming persons with disabilities are too often tokenistic due to inadequate budgeting and planning.

Target Group

The Hermosillo Hub's objective is to create awareness with the general public regarding people with disabilities, especially women with disabilities, from an intersectional perspective from different contexts of women with disabilities. The hub is also planning activities to include people with disabilities.

Hub Activities

Online events:

• November 25th: Online webinar about of violence against women with disabilities in violent settings in contexts like Palestine, Mexico and Colombia with 300 views.

In-person events:

• Presentation of documentary about the sexual and reproductive rights of people with intellectual disabilities.


• Loteria in sign language.

Short & Long-term Goal

• To created awareness and reflection regarding the realities lived by people with disabilities, especially women.

Invitation to collaborate

• The hub is inviting all Global Shapers hubs to host their own Sign Language Loteria with deaf people from their own community. The hub will provide all the necessary guiding material and tools.


• The hub is also looking to create a website for people to play games in sign language from all over the world and is looking for sign language vidoes for th eonline platform in different sign languages.

If you would like to be involved in hosting a Sign Language Loteria or add your country’s sign language videos for the website, please contact the Curator of the Hermosillo Hub on TopLink so they can add you to the working group. If you are not a Global Shaper but would like to host your own Sign Language Loteria you can contact the team through Instagram or Facebook.
