Shaping Up

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with rising levels of youth unemployment and job insecurity, the Global Shapers Singapore team launched a series of interactive online webinars to tackle common questions and challenges by youths during this unprecedented crisis


 


With COVID-19 becoming the New Normal in 2021, Shaping Up has pivoted into a podcasting format focused on delivering bite-sized youth empowerment content, combining global expertise and youth perspectives. The first episode is scheduled for launch in Q3/Q4 2021


 


Objectives:


Youths, both students and young professionals, across Asia can participate remotely to learn new practical skills, such as networking skills, time management, as well as improve their employment opportunities via live resume reviews and employer pitching sessions.


 


Description:


The project has partnered with several Hubs across Asia, including the Hong Kong Hub and Bangalore Hub, as well as external organizations such as Worksider, Skilio, and many more. So far, the project is into its sixth run with replays posted on the Global Shapers Singapore Facebook page.


 


Some details on the impact the project has created:



  • Launched 5+ webinars till date, in response to the Covid-19 crisis, with 300+ active participants and 20+ experts from global communities on topics including resume reviews, networking, employer pitching, employment in the sustainability sector, and more

  • Improved employability of students and youths during the difficult Covid-19 economic situation, with at least 5+ students gaining preferred full time employment or internships based on the webinars, and achieved >2000 impressions on social media platforms

  • Developed strong external partnerships with organizations that have an outreach to 16,500+ students and 400+ businesses
