The Global Shapers hub of Varanasi took an initiative in the month of December 2020 to help underprivileged people in Varanasi fight the bitter cold by providing them with warm clothes. The hub organised various clothes donation drives in different parts of the city to collect the clothes in useable condition for more than 100 beneficiaries.

The Varanasi hub successfully designed the project in 2 legs, firstly the collection drives and then partnering with NGO to reach out to the people who needed them the most.

The hub started with organising a clothes donation week in the Swastik Apartment situated at Lanka, Varanasi and then replicated the same in Vidyapeeth colony, Sigra and Golghar. The results were overwhelming in these colonies an apartment but people also started to reach out to shapers to donate their part after getting to know of such initiative through their Instagram and Facebook posts.

Next, the hub partnered with a local NGO which operated in the rural part of the city to give out the jackets, shawls, blankets, sarees which were collected under this initiative. Also, some clothes collected in the later phase of the project were distributed to the needy people who are located near the Cantt station of Varanasi.
