#Skills4Girls

As part of efforts to celebrate and increase the visibility of women's achievements to help forge equality and create strategic collaborations, the Uyo Hub of Global Shapers Community implemented a #Skills4Girls Project to mentor young women; women in business, female graduates and undergraduates, female tutors and women in leadership.

Project Goals: To raise awareness of the existing gender inequalities in our communities and bridge the gap through mentoring and capacity building sessions for young women.

To facilitate conversations that demystifies the gender norms and roles that negatively affect women's health resulting in poor health-seeking behaviours and high maternal mortality rates.

To promote women inclusiveness in leadership and change the narrative on gender restricted leadership or career roles in our communities.

The 5-day training and capacity building sessions were focused on themes designed to empower women to challenge these gender inequalities, the subject areas included; Redefining Women in Leadership, Educating Women on Health Choices, Digital Marketing Skills, Photography Skills, Removing the Gender Bias and Thriving as a Woman-Owned Business and Inspiring Women Inclusiveness in Tech.
