The Soweto Hub is proud to announce that it is 3 months into its Soweto Business Mentorship programme. The Hub selected 10 SMMEs out of 60+ applicants to offer mentorship to. The SMMEs were chosen because their businesses all operate under the Global Shapers' pillars: Climate and Environment, Education and Employment, and Equity and Inclusion. The mentorship programme is in partnership with the United States Embassy in South Africa. The mentorship programme includes four mentors, who are assisting the SMMEs with their business model, social impact and profitability portfolios.

Goals:

• The SMMEs employ 30 people in total - this programme seeks to maintain these jobs as our country constantly announces job losses.


• Each SMME seeks to create 2-5 new jobs, with an overarching goal of 20 new jobs created as a result of the programme.


• The SMMEs will receive a certificate from Couresa at the end of the programme, this will be a "Business Strategy" certificate, and will accompany their skills development.


• All the SMMEs receive training in digital marketing skills in order to increase revenue through their online reach.
