Storytelling to Drive Collaborative Climate Action

Climate awareness is not solely about the message, but also the messengers. This Pan-Canadian project aims to empower new climate messengers. Building off the first phase of the Pan-Canadian project, and a national research project on climate narratives supported by many Canadian Global Shapers, each Hub will create and host a storytelling event with two components. The first part will be a showcase that highlights the differences and lived impact of climate change on individuals from various backgrounds, with a particular emphasis on those from historically marginalized communities (including women, LGBTQ2S+ people, and people of colour) to shed light on this complex issue. The second component of the workshop will create space for community members, including invited members of local organizations (e.g. small businesses, unions, churches, refugee organizations) to explore, and commit to specific actions for localized solutions. Conducting this storytelling and action-oriented workshop will help create a shared understanding of how climate change is impacting various stakeholders in the community and create the space for collaborations to form to help mitigate and adapt to climate change.
