We are living in extreme times, permeated by polarized opinions and little dialogue. In this context, Global Shapers Belo Horizonte created the project Talking Privileges. The goal is to foster empathy and knowledge of different realities locally. Shapers promoted free monthly open meetings to talk about topics such as: race, sexuality, gender, living with disabilities, lack of housing and sanitation. Each month, a group of shapers studied a topic, fostered discussion among shapers and organized an open forum for shapers and Belo Horizonte citizens. The open forums included specialists and experienced people in each theme and they took place in a location related to that theme. For instance, the gender and sexuality forum took place in a house that supports women that have suffered domestic violence. The main goal of Talking Privileges project is to foster empathy and knowledge of different realities locally. The project was executed from July to December and have reached over 50 people apart hub members.
