The Lespwar (Hope) Group

The Lespwar (Hope) Group is an initiative to develop the soft skills of at-risk young women in public schools in Seychelles who were referred from a Behaviour Intervention Programme.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the National Council for Children, Futuro Sports Sesel and a local Education Specialist Consultant, the young women partake in activities that centre around developing their leadership and consequential thinking abilities, improving health and well-being, increasing self-confidence and resilience, and building interpersonal, social skills.

The aim of the initiative is to engage these young individuals in education and be able to retain them within the education system until the age of 16, as well as engage them in their communities. Since its launch in November 2018, the project has reached 28 girls from 11 secondary schools in Seychelles and up to 10 Shapers have participated in the programme through a variety of activities.
