Think Global, Work Local Podcast

Taiwan's brain drain is a serious demographic, economic, and national security crisis. GlobalTalent from Oxford has ranked Taiwan the highest in "Brain Drain" globally in 2021, with around 7.2% of the workforce leaving Taiwan in search of better job opportunities. Simultaneously, overseas students who look to stay in Taiwan after graduation have trouble finding work opportunities, resulting in many leaving Taiwan. The issue of talent retention is exacerbated by the total fertility rate at an all-time low of 0.87. The reasons behind the brain drain are complex and multilayered. One area we are seeking to address is the information gap between job seekers and the type of opportunities available and the skills needed to succeed in them. To address the information gap, we are interviewing young professionals who are working in Taiwan about their jobs, how they got them, and the type of skills required to succeed in them. Our goal is to inspire young professionals who are seeking to stay in Taiwan about the type of opportunities available and expand their imaginations of what is possible.
