Impact

ThinkTogether

ThinkTogether is a collaborative social movement project conducted in collaboration with Social Contract, a US based company, which helps communities solve complex social problems. This project is spearheaded by students to improve youth outcomes and promote student entrepreneurship.

The movement was sparked by growing concerns around youth disengagement and plummeting academic outcomes. Five consensus building workshops, as well as a youth summit, were held in November 2019 with over 30 students from three public schools, educators and more than 25 national decision-makers, resulting in co-designed solutions. These interventions resulted in a blueprint which seeks to engage youth to drive school culture transformation, repair relationships, increase job exposure and cultivate entrepreneurial agency.

School culture transformation, one of the project’s objectives, is due in 2020 through restorative justice training between teachers and students. This training will be provided virtually by Akoben LLC, an organisation that provides consultation to transform individuals, organisations and communities.

Additionally, Shapers will be trained as “SELF” facilitators, a coaching model that represents the four interactive key aspects of recovery from negative experiences; Safety, Emotions, Loss and Future. Once trained, Shapers will run programmes with young people, engaging them in weekly support circles to encourage shared power and communication.
