Tiny Mic - Big Stories

Tiny Mic - Big Stories is a storytelling programme for underserved school-aged children to develop:
1. Confidence
2. Empathy &
3. Emotional Intelligence.

How?

We host regular, fun open-mic events where children share original stories from their lives.
These children come from private schools(privileged communities) and
public schools(extremely underserved communities).

The interaction of children in these 2 different socio-economic groups is intentionally facilitated. They listen to each others' stories, develop empathy and build lasting bonds and friendships.
-Confidence is developed by regularly sharing their life stories with an audience.
-Empathy is developed by regularly interacting and listening to others' stories.
-Emotional Intelligence is developed by talking about how they feel in a safe, mindful and facilitated environment ( Name it to tame it).

Originally started as Project Connect, this project has been restarted with partners :

Tiny Mic Story: They lend us their curriculum, event format and facilitation experience
Arisa Foundation: They provide psychological and neurological research on how this intervention affects children.

Activities:

1. Hosting of Open Mic Events where children share original life stories to other children from different socio-economic backgrounds
2. Facilitated sessions of art and music
3. ‘MailJol’ service between the schools (a Postal service run by the Project team) through which the kids write letters to each other.
