Together Des Moines is a past (and ongoing) campaign for immigrant rights in the Des Moines community that was started in 2017-2018. This year-long initiative is aimed at supporting immigrant rights through efforts in partnership with the Iowa Immigrants Rights Program. This includes a media campaign that garnered TV, magazine, newspaper, social media, and daily email newsletter coverage; as well as a day of giving from local Des Moines restaurants who donated proceeds to the Iowa Immigrant Rights Program and wrote messages of suppport for the immigrant community. This project was so successful in engaging the community, we have decided to continue this project in 2020 and beyond, as we add more aspects of the campaign including green card assistance events and more. This project hits multiple Global Shapers impact areas, including migration, values, and Shaping My City's Future.
