Impact

UDesign

ABOUT:
UDesign, as a project, commenced its activities during the initial month of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops. Throughout its operation, the project team organized more than 200 creative workshops, over 15 excursions, 5 public presentations showcasing children's projects combined with open lectures, exhibitions and a complete festival in the support of the project.

Originating from the concept of immersing children in creative activities and the art of design, the project gradually evolved into an educational organization seeking to tailor its approach to each age group of children. The project employs design to ignite children's creativity and problem-solving skills, simultaneously providing insights into theoretical and technical frameworks. Moreover, the workshops will equip Ukrainian children with the inspiration and skillset necessary for contributing to the future rebuilding and redesigning of their homeland. This approach, emphasizing rapid adaptation, critical thinking, and self-reflection, aims to empower, offer hope, and cultivate a design-oriented perspective on the world.

Over the past 1.5 years, the UDesign project has secured and effectively utilized funding from the STO Foundation, the US Embassy in Prague, Foundation Via, and the Integration Centre Prague.

UDesign encompasses a group of dedicated volunteers, each playing a pivotal role. The project comprises instructors who educate the children, volunteers who offer support at all stages, and an administrative team responsible for organizational affairs. Beyond the primary target audience of Ukrainian children and their parents, the project also impacts Ukrainian instructors/volunteers who lead the workshops. UDesign offers them a sense of community, connecting them with peers in the design field, fostering friendships, and imparting a sense of belonging and usefulness within their community.
