Una Mano a México

An earthquake of magnitude 7.1 degrees on the open Richter scale rocked Mexico City, Puebla and Morelos on September 19 at 1:14 p.m. The Global Shapers of the Hub Mexico City in conjunction with the hubs of Puebla, Leon and Cuernavaca created a fundraising campaign through the crowdfunding platform Donadora to support those affected. The campaign raised US$50,000 (approx.) to provide support for the victims in Mexico City and the states of Morelos and Puebla. Reconstruction and rehabilitation were carried out with four families directly affected by the earthquake, specifically families who lost their homes and businesses (those who had both in the same property). In total, this accounts for the recovery of the household and main income of 20 direct beneficiaries.

The project also had the potential to sensitize thousands of people about the impact that can be had through collaborative platforms, 5 reports were sent to the donor community with all the advances and closure of the project. For the construction of the houses, an agreement was signed with Pienza Sostenible, a Mexican organization with national presence that builds in communities based on the training of its inhabitants in new and appropriate forms of construction, promoting the reuse of existing materials and structures, doing an important job of collecting quality inputs for reconstruction efforts.
