Voces Por Una Causa Festival

Problem Statement

The lack of a strong education system during the pandemic, when Bolivia opted for the closure of the 2020 school year, where children and young people from vulnerable groups were the most affected.

Adding to that, it was a moment where (1) the health system was collapsing and it was crucial to stay at home and respect the quarantine. At that moment, Carnival festivities were near and community was nostalgic about not celebrating it. Or worst, there was people considering celebrating it despite the possible consequences. (2) The productive apparatus was paralyzed, which strongly affected many sectors such as the cultural sector. With public spaces closed artists had a hard time

Target Group

Children and young people between 4 and 18 years of age with parents in prison or reintegration into society, which were just about to start school again.

Proposed Solution and Hub Activities

Global Shapers Cochabamba Hub created this solidarity artistic online festival as an online alternative activity for families, where Bolivian musicians and writers participated - promoting as well local talents - , with the intention of uniting their voices to raise funds for the purchase of school supplies for children and young people between 4 and 18 years of age with parents in prison or reintegration into society, which were just about to start school again.

Short & Long-Term Goals and Results

Due to the success of the project, the hub decided to make it annual, where every year there would be a different "cause" that will move them to join their voices for.

- Provide +100 kids with parents in prison with school supplies

- Create an alternative for Carnival under the premise of "stay at home" for families during the pandemics
