Walk with Purpose is an initiative launched by the Global Shapers Community - Tangier’s Hub.

This project aims to rediscover Tangier through the Shapers’ eyes by connecting with its people and hearing their unique stories in order to better understand their needs. The shapers will walk around the streets of Tangier with the purpose of discovering hidden spots and deeply connecting with the people to uncover the global issues and challenges impacting the Tangerian community.

The project will be divided into 3 phases:

  Collect : The shapers will go on intentional walks around the city, individually or in groups. They will share their experiences and findings in our database in order to identify potential partners, spaces, or organizations that we can collaborate with.
  • They will also try to meet with local NGOs in different neighborhoods of Tangier to share their experiences and help us with our quest.
  
  


• 
  Analyze : This phase will be focused on structuring the data that we collected which will help us deeply understand the challenges of our community, and work on projects that will really make a great impact on our people.
  


• 
  Present : Finally, we will be sharing the results of our walks with purpose in order to have a clear idea of our next steps. We might also organize events or conferences regarding this matter.
  

After organizing individual walks through different neighborhoods of Tangier and meeting with young people to discuss many topics related to the global issues our city is facing . We will organize 3 walks to close this project :

Walk 1 : Photography walk

In partnership with Moments of Tangier Cultural Cafe, we will organize a guided photography walk through the Medina. A tribute to Tangier, to its beauty and diversity by immortalizing it in a picture. The guided tour will be followed by a workshop about Picture's editing.

The goal : Select the pictures that speak to Tangier’s complex energy and charm, that we will be exposed during the final presentation of the project.

Walk 2 : Social issue, homeless children

We’re choosing to tackle one of Tangier’s most heartbreaking issues. We all see them, how can we help ? The walk going to be in partnership with local NGOs that work on this social issue.

The goal : We want to tell their story, investigate what is being done to help them, and hopefully do something for them (direct action).

Walk 3 : Cleaning day in Rmilat

A practical and direct action for our city, with a research part trying to understand why is this still an issue ? Why are people still littering ? Where did the trash cans installed a year ago go ? What are the competent authorities doing about that ? How can we help ?

The goal : Organize a fun cleaning day, with hopefully a sensibilisation aspect to it.
