The Global Shapers Palermo Hub felt that they had the responsibility on addressing the Mafia, because if we don't do it in Palermo who else will? Sicily is such a vibrant island with so much history and culture, and it's a shame that it's mainly known as being a 'capital of Mafia' abroad. In order to change this perception, we must first educate on a local level. This is why the Hub has created the quiz - to spread awareness and show locals just how widespread the Mafia is in many of our daily interactions.

The outreach at the moment is digital, and the Hub will soon be spreading offline with stickers around the city. The Hub will also be contacting local anti-mafia organizations to have them share our quiz with their databases, and hopefully have events together. Once 200 completed surveys are reached, the Hub would like to take this data and present it to schools with the aim of instilling young Palermitans with practical tools they can use to be instruments of change.
