Winter Clothing Drive

In late November 2019, one of the Shapers in the Toronto Hub was volunteering at The Meeting Place (West Neighbourhood House), an organization working to increase social networks and access to income through advocacy, public education, and skill development. One of the many items they provide is warm clothing for those in need. Our Shaper saw a human in need come into the space searching for warm clothes, only to leave with a single old coat that was falling apart because everything else had already been given away to others. This holiday season, we called on the Toronto community. We collected used clothing, hats, mittens, gloves, jackets, pants etc (10+ bags worth), personal hygiene items, and raised $435 through GoFundMe.

We did this again in 2020. Because of COVID we didn't gather all the bags, but many of our Shapers went to The Meeting Place and donated this clothes again. We didn't do GoFundMe this year, we asked Shapers to donate directly to them.
