Your Everyday Ally (YEA) is an initiative of the New York Global Shapers Hub that aims to support people with disabilities in using technology to lead more autonomous lives.

In 2019, the YEA team launched their first project, a community-oriented training on the use of technology to navigate accessibility options in public transportation, at the Grow With Google Learning Center in New York City.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the YEA team observed that remote work could foster more inclusive work environments, but that digital technologies are not always used in the most accessible way. To that end, YEA has been collaborating with the Perkins School for the Blind – the oldest school for the blind in the United States – to get young people thinking, learning, and talking about digital accessibility.
