E-Waste

Problem Statement: E-Waste is an initiative to recycle disused technological devices (desktop computers, laptops, cell phones, tablets, etc.). Our goal was to facilitate the access of communities in need to electronic equipment, to contribute with digital knowledge and education, giving the devices a "second life".

Target Group: Fundación la Merced’ school in Batey Bienvenido, a community of more than 20 children under vulnerable conditions.

Proposed Solution: E-Waste was a project of recycling and reusing secondhand or non-working electronic devices. Through a call of donations we were able to receive personal computers to be refurbish, and donate them to Fundación la Merced’ School

Hub Activities: Campaign to raise awareness about electronic waste and engage people in Santo Domingo  to donate equipment for the school or for recycling purposes. Reception desk to collect electronic equipment donations. Classification, diagnosis and repairment of donated electronic equipment.
