Financial Literacy Project

The Financial Literacy Project was a project with the goal of connecting untapped school children to financial services. We addressed queries regarding digital financial services and personal financial management to around 170 participants in a 3-hour workshop. Students discussed tips and tools related to money management including, controlling overspending, banking habits, digital payments, saving, Children’s responsibility. We distributed piggy banks to each student and asked them to maintain a financial diary.to track their income and expenses.


69 students opened cooperative accounts. 23 were excited to open a bank account the next day. It was interesting to notice that 12 students among the others wanted to utilize a digital payment platform just to help their parents to pay utility bills. The Highest saving was Rs. 3820 with 52 notes. Having said that, 90% of participants opened a bank account and are also maintaining their financial diary.
