Nagpur Action Group

The Nagpur Action Group is a collective action initiative led by the Global Shapers Community Nagpur Hub, aimed at enabling solutions by addressing the gaps in several fronts affecting the Nagpur metropolitan region and its people. The group brings together users, experts, practitioners, and service providers from various domains to create a pipeline of ideas as well as feedback that can enable solutions to key issues facing the city.

The initiative's primary objective is to represent the interests of Nagpur and its people by identifying key areas of concern and then bringing together all major stakeholders in the region to solve them through the medium of constructive and iterative discourses. This is a long-term solution that aims to create a sustainable future for the social, cultural, economical, and political health of Nagpur and its residents.

To achieve its objectives, the Nagpur Action Group will leverage the experience and expertise of its subjects to form focused groups across major verticals affecting the city. These focused groups, comprising of civic society, NGOs, the public sector, the private sector, academia, and research organizations, will work to exchange feedback and key information that can help address topical issues, thereby enabling comprehensive solutions that can address them. Such an approach leverages the collaborative power of an entire indigenous ecosystem coming together to solve problems in identified areas, which will lead to catalyzing action across the city and building a culture of collaborative action.

Nagpur lacks a civic ecosystem that enables its subjects to meet their aspirations. The hub aims to fill this gap by creating a collective action group of experts and practitioners across domains that represent the interests of the city and its people, one that creates a pipeline for spaces and solutions that can enable them. It is a long-term solution.

The target groups are the residents, emigrants, immigrants, enterprises, entities, and authorities in Nagpur. The timeline to be followed will be:

  • By Summer 2023 - Create an active team that engages a reflective and representative set of individuals and entities across at least 5 key domains affecting the city.

  • By Winter 2024 - Have initiated at least 25 incremental discourses and / or correspondences across all existing domains.

  • By Summer 2024 - Become a self-sustainable entity with its own leadership and organization structure, continued to be supported by the Shapers Nagpur Chapter

The hub's short term goals are:

  • Create an active project team (Executive Body) to initiate the program

  • Setup and recruit active domain teams (Committees) for at least 5 domains affecting the city

  • Initiate at least 25 incremental and focused discourses / correspondences across domains by EoY 2023

The long term change that are anticipated are:

  • Become the primary interest group across domains for the citizens and entities of the Nagpur region, through thorough representation, adequate expertise, and by enabling meaningful capabilities transfer.

  • Make the city a healthy, safe, collaborative, and thriving community to live, work, invest, and seek leisure.

The success of the initiative can be measured by number of city-based public goods created (for eg. startups, policies, CSOs, communities, etc)

The Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the initiative shall be:

  • Number of active Executive Body members

  • Number of active Committees

  • Number of active Committee members

  • Number of focused-discourses enabled
