Shape Talk

Shape Talk is an initiative that bore out of the idea of bringing thought leaders and experts to share and educate about topics that matters to young people. These sessions have explored fields ranging from the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Education, Entrepreneurship, Menstrual Health, Patriarchy among others to discuss on the current practices and developments in the community. Shape Talks intends to be the platform where current issues and trends are discussed and dissected among active stakeholders in the community and work towards the next action plan. 


The first Shape Talk started in June 29, 2018. The dicussion panned around the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the advancements in the technology and the potential threat of data security in the Nepali entrepreneurial community. The event was attended by around 90+ audience and the videos have been uploaded on the Global Shapers Kathmandu hub Youtube channel.


The second edition of Shape Talk was held on February 4, 2019 on the topic of menstrual taboo. Titled "Rite of Passage", four short movies on menstruation were screened at the event followed by a panel discussion with the filmmakers and menstruation activist. Over 400 participants, including students from various schools in Kathmandu valley participated in the event.


The third Shape Talk identified the need for creating space for innovative business ideas and agile governance. We were joined by entrepreneurs and investors who shared their experience of operating business in the Nepal ecosystem. The event was organized in November 2019


Since the COVID pandemic started, the events have been moved to a virtual platform. The first virtual engagement was on the topic of Digital citizenship and how one can create a safe environment for others online. 


The most recent Shape Talk discussed Patriarchy and how we could reassess the practices that create a uniform living experience for all regardless of gender and sexuality. The event took place in June 4, 2021 and was attended by 30+ participants.
