Shaping Mental Health

Poor awareness about mental health, its semantics and spectrum has supported an environment of confusion around the issue in Nepal. Examples include labelling sadness as depression or anxiety labelled as mental illness.

An umbrella project bringing together multiple hub initiatives in a collective advocacy effort to destigmatize mental health was launched in response. Our project was launched with an advocacy campaign under the banner #youmatter on 11th January 2020. Our video outlined key statistics related to mental health in Nepal, which at time of writing had over 5500 views across different platforms.

An online campaign with ‘Mythbusters’, ‘Mental Health Semantics’, and ‘Climate change for Mental Health’ in 2021 have helped organically reach over 44000 Nepali’s. Added to that we have a regular podcast titled ‘Mann ka Kuraharu’ (Conversations of the Heart) in the local language. Our podcast can be found at anchor, google podcasts and apple podcasts.
