Social Entrepreneurship

In 2015, the Paramaribo Hub started the ‘Green Young and Innovate' (Greeyative) project, in order guide young people with ideas in preparation for a future role in the fight against climate change and its social effects. They could develop their ideas into business models and thus become social entrepreneurs. To achieve this goal, Greeyative was divided into various subprojects of which ‘The Social Entrepreneurship Sessions’ is one of. In addition, a deteriorated socio-economic situation in Suriname is occurring as a result of economic decline. An economic decline affects society heavily, creating a need for economic and social recovery. People who think differently can also improve this by conducting "social entrepreneurship. This project consists of 3 sessions, the first one is a general motivational and informative session, followed by two workshops. The info session will consist of an introduction and a discussion about the concept and examples and will be organized in collaboration with a community college in Paramaribo with the aim to reach more people, in particular students, dissident entrepreneurs and young people with a social mission. Hereafter, 2 workshops will be provided by an international social entrepreneur, expert and Global Shaper from a South American country. The workshops will provide a learning space for a selected group of people to be exposed to and learn about Social Entrepreneurship theory and practice, social business models, financial and social implications, and coaching aimed at helping entrepreneurs develop their own social enterprise idea.
