Youth4Progress was a Capacity Building and Empowerment Workshop for Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) (Youth Council) Chairpersons, put forth as a pilot project in the City Government of Mandaluyong. With this project, the Maninal Hub aimed to improve youth governance within the context of the newly elected Sangguniang Kabataan of the City Government of Mandaluyong, previously affected by inadequate leadership abilities of the youth, lack of understanding of systems thinking and technical knowledge deficits in policy making and project management. The solution was a two-day capacity building, knowledge sharing and empowerment workshop addressing the topics of (1) foundational leadership, (2) systems thinking and design thinking, and (3) legislative process and governance, with the goal of enabling youth leaders to fulfill their mandate, increasing their capability to serve and their accountability to their constituents. It total, 25 SK Chairpersons were reached with this project.
