Dry Ration Distribution

When Sri Lanka was facing one of its worst economic crises in post-independence history, with skyrocketing inflation and shortages of essentials, such as food, fuel and medicines, the Shapers of the Colombo Hub in partnership with the Vancouver Hub and the Robinhood Army of Sri Lanka initiated a fundraiser to provide dry ration packs to the most vulnerable and underprivileged families in Colombo city. One ration pack included goods that are sufficient for one family. A special focus has been given to including sanitary napkins and other hygiene products while ensuring the use of polythene-free packaging. Funds were raised via GoFundMe as well as directly deposited to the hub account.

The goals of the project included:

- To reduce hunger, achieve food security and ensure hygiene.

- To improve the health and nutrition of people that are most vulnerable in the economic crisis.

- To provide urgent assistance required for survival in an economic crisis.

The hub has raised CAD 20,385.00 and LKR 1,632,998.61 and successfully provided for 965 families during this dire economic crisis.

Other Project Details are as follows:

- 15 Locations
