Early Detection of Forest Fire Fuels

This project comes after 2019 Baja California Forest Fires that devastated 4 municipalities. The atypical weather conditions coupled with ample availability of brush and other vegetation lead to a series of fire fronts across the state, that stretched the already low resources thin.

This project attempts to use open source GIS software, remote sensing, as well as drones, in order to map the availability of potential forest fire fuels that can cause losses (human and economic) to the region of Baja California, as well as prepare and inform local stakeholders about the areas that are more likely to be exposed to this type of event.
