Impact

Empowering Enugu

Enugu state currently has an employment rate of 31.6%. This has led to an increase in crime rate and electoral thuggery among unemployed graduates.

The project targets unemployed graduates in Enugu state aged between 20 – 29 years.

The Enugu hub seeks to inspire and empower young graduates through two strategies. Mentorship sessions and career workshops that empower the graduates with relevant skills. This would equip the participants with the skills to apply for jobs or startup their own enterprise.

The hub intends to hold a monthly live virtual mentorship session over a period of five months where participants engage with successful young people who are thriving across different sectors in the state. The aim is to inspire them and enlighten them about the possibilities that exist in the state.
Beyond that, the hub also intends to hold career workshops across technology, personal finance and other skills which are designed to further equip them to access better jobs in January 2024. The career workshops are in person and virtual with tutors who would provide insights and practical knowledge for participants.

Our goals are:
Track attendance for each mentorship session and aim to increase participation monthly through collaborating with other communities in Enugu
Track participant success: This involves tracking how the sessions and workshops have impacted on their progress. We intend to collect testimonials and reviews.
Seek for partnership opportunities to further advance the goal to empower participants.

The long term goal is to impact 200 young graduates by January 2024 by empowering them with relevant 21st century digital skills that allow them to access better job opportunities or setup their own enterprise.

Project metrics include
The number of total participants for the mentorship sessions
Total number of beneficiaries who got a job as a result of the training
Beneficiaries who started up a business after the training
Total number of sessions held.
