Federal Climate Debates

A group of Shapers across Canada from the Calgary, Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver hubs co-hosted environmental debates, in partnership with GreenPac (https://www.100debates.ca/) and other local environmental organizations, in their cities prior to the federal election in October 2019. The purpose of these debates was to create a Canada-wide conversation between candidates and constituents about the environment and raise awareness around the importance of safeguarding Canada's natural assets. The objective of the project was to raise awareness around the importance of having a healthy and thriving ecosystem and that the well-being of the society and economy depends on it. Canadian citizens longed to see their political leaders, regardless of the party elected, work together to safeguard the planet. Protecting the planet should not be a partisan issue; it's a global crisis and anyone in leadership needs a plan of action to address it. The hub will measure impact by the number of attendees across the country as well as the impact had on social media leading up to, during, and after the event.
