i-Teams brings together the brightest students and the university's groundbreaking research to develop commercially viable strategies and build university-industry links. Students learn a structured approach to innovating in which everything is a variable and the product, technology, and opportunities for new ventures can be seen as an act of synthesis. Teams learn to gather evidence that permits a fact-based iteration across multiple application domains, markets, functionalities, technologies, and products, leading to a recommendation that maps a space of opportunity and includes actionable next steps to evolve the market and technology. The reasons we are developing this initiative: There are few cases of successful technology transfer, creation of spin-offs from research fields. There are more ways for promoting the creation of companies than teaching scientists to be more entrepreneurial. There is a need to develop talent for the creation of scientific-technological companies and the commercial development of innovations. Our goals for the program: Implement the i-Teams methodology with local universities to develop talent for the creation of scientific-technological companies and generate links between scientists and local companies. Connect the existing demand for innovation and technology with the offer present in laboratories and universities.
