ICT For Schools

Problem Statement: Most of the schools in Kenya don’t have equipped computer labs, in line with the the Fourth Industrial Revolution, there is a need in advancing digital skills among youth students to equip them with market relevant skills.


Target Group: Primary and Secondary Schools in Kenya.


Proposed Solution: Nairobi Hub partnered with General Electric to launch ultra modern computers for three schools; Kabuku Primary School, Kinoo Girls and Kabaru Primary Schools. Through the partnership the hub was able to oversee distribution of a total of 54 computers, a printer and a projector to the schools. A partnership with Kids Code Camp further enabled introduction of coding classes in the schools.


Hub Activities: 



Raising funds to equip the computer labs.


Identifying and establishing relationship with partners.


Sourcing for computers and books.


Overseeing the modernization of computer labs in the identified schools.


Mentoring students on IT and life skills.

Short & Long-Term Goals/Results: 


Advancing digital skills among young students to equip them with market relevant skills in line with 4IR.


Built ultra modern computer labs for students in Kabuku Primary School, Kabaru Primary School and Kinoo Girls.


Increased uptake of computer classes in schools.


Improved digital literacy among students.


Mentorship sessions helped students built their self esteem.

A total of 54 computers were donated to the labs.


Kabaru Primary School received a projector and a printer as part of the donation.
