Keep Austin Beautiful Day

Since 2009, Keep Austin Beautiful has organized large-scale cleanups of Lady Bird Lake every other month. The organization train volunteer leaders to conduct annual cleanups at over 20 locations along the shoreline and on canoes, kayaks, and standup paddleboards. On Keep Austin Beautiful Day the organization partners with local organizations, businesses and individuals for an annual city-wide day of service that mobilizes 4,000 volunteers across Austin and Travis County every April. The Austin Hub of the Global Shapers partnered with KABD to clean up over fifteen pounds of trash and beautiful the water and trailways of Austin.

The goal is to give back to an area of town our hub frequently uses - the hike and bike trail along Lady Bird Lake. As a hub, our impact included 12 hours of community service and over 15lbs of trash. Our total site had over 30 gallons of trash removed from the trail, including materials properly recycled via the City of Austin's resource recovery system.
