MOVE! Maximize Our Vote: Election 2022 - An Online Education Campaign Series

  1. What is the project’s problem statement?

Investigations and reports indicated that the 2016 national elections served as a hotbed for political manipulation and mind conditioning through the use of social media channels. Many mobilized efforts were put forth for data gathering and analysis in order to negatively influence the outcome of the elections and compromise the entire democratic process as a whole in both the United States and the Philippines. These revelations have spurred calls for the voting public to be more vigilant of the information that they both consume and share on their dedicated social platforms, particularly when it’s information that involves issues that are of national interest.

  1. What is the project’s target group

The project targeted voters of the 2022 national election in an effort to combat the misinformation campaigns that were widespread during the previous national election. Specifically, M.O.V.E. 2022 made an effort to focus on youth voters, especially first-time voters.

There were 66.9 million registered voters for the 2022 national elections, with 30% of them falling within the 18-30 age group and 75% being internet users.

M.O.V.E. 2022 served as an online education campaign designed to empower the Filipino to pursue the ideals of democracy in its purest and most unadulterated form.
