Regnerative Futures: a Proof of Concept for Auckland City
Our goal is to produce a proof-of-concept document detailing how indigenous Māori and Pasifika perspectives, alongside existing regenerative ideas/frameworks can coalesce to unify, evaluate, and support projects in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland). The end-goal is to work towards a resilient Auckland that supports social needs whilst reducing our impact on existing planetary boundaries.
The hub hopes to answer questions such as:
- According to 1) indigenous Māori activists and organisations who work on indigenous systems thinking and/or addressing climate changes and 2) regenerative projects currently existing in Auckland, what does a future regenerative Auckland look like?
- What are the gaps they see between the current state and the future state?
- What are the key leverage points they see to bridge these gaps?
Quantitative indicators:
- The final document produced
- The number of people whom the document is distributed to
- The feedback generated from readers
Key outcomes met:
- A regenerative framework for Auckland for a specific area identified, centred around Māori tikanga.
- Policy recommendations that answer the question “How might we bridge the gaps from current state to future state using this framework?”
- The outcomes of the pilot program
