Rome Hub position paper on the Financial Literacy bill - Italian Senate

This project consists in the Rome Hub's position towards the piece of legislation that will introduce the teaching of financial literacy in Italian schools.

Italy's lag on financial literacy, compared to the average OECD and beyond, is the undeniable premise of any debate concerning the urgent need to intervene to reverse this dramatic trend.

The Rome Hub of the Global Shapers Community expresses its full appreciation on the attention that the legislature is giving to the issue, welcoming the advancement legislative process of the bill aiming at introducing the financial education teaching in Italy.

In particular, we expressed a preference for the proposal that integrates financial education in a civic education context, as also emphasized by the Bank of Italy on the basis of its extensive experience in the field over the years.

The Rome Hub is currently carrying on an internal upskilling process to equip its members with basic financial skills. The purpose is to engage with local high school students as of next year, providing them innovative courses on the topic. (Similar activities have already been implemented by the Bari and Naples hubs).

The goal of such submissions is to actively contribute to the decision making process related to this issue.
