Senior Employment Guidelines (aka The Golden Generation)

Problem Statement: The elderly in Latvia need to find an environment to socialize in, to become an integrated part of the society.

Target Group: We aim to reach elderly who are open to part-time job opportunities.

Proposed Solution: The project brought together seniors and employers via Seniors’ Employment Guidelines. These guidelines were designed to help employers attract and recruit seniors, including advice on adapting the work environment, finding and selecting employees, and outlining the specifics of working with seniors. Employers who respond appropriately to the aging of the workforce will be able to compete in attracting and retaining productive workers.

Hub Activities: The project activities included:

  • Meeting the key stakeholders to develop employment guidelines: local organisations that represent seniors, experts, largest employers who are recruiting seniors;

  • Researching international examples and best practices on senior employment;

  • Developing guidelines for seniors and employers on working and employing people above the age of 65;

  • Developing a landing page for employers to download the guidelines (https://www.senioristrada.lv/);

  • Spreading awareness through online channels.

Short & Long-Term Goals/Results, Available Metrics:The project:

  • Reached 85+ employers/HR managers directly (via presentations, meetings, etc.), who now use the employment guidelines;

  • Reached 1000+ employers/HR managers indirectly (through digital publications).

Collaborators: During the project execution we collaborated with: local organisations that represent seniors, HR experts on senior employment, largest employers in Latvia.
