The Barcelona Hub has organized the first Startup Weekend dedicated entirely to maritime and blue logistics in the World. The port of Barcelona is a powerful maritime logistic hub in southern Europe and, therefore, the Hub wants to take advantage of its enormous potential and attractiveness. Participants worked for over 54h in order to present projects that tackled Maritime sector’s most challenging problems, with a specific focus in sustainability and efficiency. Then they received feedback from mentors in the Maritime Logistic and were awarded a selection of prizes by the Jury with the idea that they move forward with their projects.

54 entrepreneurs, 15 mentors, 5 jury members, 12 business ideas, 8 startups, 27 sponsor and collaborating companies, 40 pizzas, more than 200 Coffees and a few red bulls. Oh, and the food provided during the event was provided in recyclable boxes and the leftovers were donated to local homeless shelters. Overall, we had lots of fun and look forward to organizing a similar event.
