STEM Girls

This project was developed using insight from the “STEM for Social Good Toolkit” from Girl UP, which some members of this project are part of. Girl UP is focused on the inclusion of women in the economy focused on the sustainable development of gender equality and future jobs.

Goals:

Give a better idea of intersectional STEM concepts, such as understanding how to apply the scientific process for gender equality, or real-life applications of how thinking like an engineer can solve social problems. Challenge girls to think outside the box and create a new way to analyze problems critically. Have fun. Overcome the pressures of social stigma or stereotypes that can sometimes limit girls and women to explore STEM camps. Foster curiosity for science and technology, remove stereotypes, strengthen self-esteem.

Impact:

Final evaluation to understand if some girls were interested in finding more about STEM. Psychological study to understand if the project was able to question some stereotypes.
