SUSTAINHK

The general public and corporate-level actors in Hong Kong need to have access to climate solutions and best practices in order to transition Hong Kong into a more sustainable city.

The Hong Kong hub of the Global Shapers Community has initiated SUSTAINHK, which convenes forums on climate science and curates dialogues on corporate-level action on environmental sustainability.

From curating and hosting industry-specific exchanges (fashion, food and beverage and finance) and convening climate science seminars (featuring leading climate experts in Hong Kong), to co-organizing the inaugural U.N. Global Goals Jam Hong Kong in 2018 (a 3-day hackathon themed around the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals) and co-curating TEDxCivic Exchange Countdown (a 4-week TED Countdown program spotlighting policy- and corporate-level best practices in Hong Kong): SUSTAINHK has been active in making climate issues more accessible and engaging to various audiences in Hong Kong.

From its inception in May 2018 till now, SUSTAINHK's events has reached more than 400 people. A 6-part video series on ocean conservation in Hong Kong, filmed and produced by three incoming Shapers as part of their probation project, amassed more than 54,000 views on Facebook.

SUSTAINHK is also active in participating in and promoting projects initiated by other sustainability-focused organizations, as a community partner to Civic Exchange, HK2050isNow, Shared Value Project Hong Kong and G.R.E.E.N. Hospitality.
