Problem Statement
In today’s fast-paced world, many young people struggle to pause, reflect, and process their emotions and experiences. Without time and space for introspection, mental wellbeing and self-awareness can suffer, especially in high-pressure academic or work environments.
Target Group
Young adults in Venice who are seeking a safe, supportive space to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with themselves through guided journaling and shared dialogue.
Proposed Solution
Lagoon of Thoughts creates a safe and inclusive space where participants can gather to reflect and express themselves through journaling. Each session is built around a different writing prompt designed to guide participants through a process of introspection and personal growth. By combining writing with open discussion, the project fosters mindfulness, empathy, and community connection.
Hub Activities
- Organising monthly journaling sessions with a consistent structure (introduction, writing, group discussion).
- Preparing writing prompts for each meeting to inspire guided reflection.
- Managing logistics, such as meeting space setup and participant registration.
- Promoting sessions on social media to raise awareness and invite new participants.
- Collecting feedback to improve future sessions and sustain engagement.
Goals
Short-Term Goals
- Build a small, consistent community of participants who attend sessions regularly.
- Establish a clear and repeatable structure for sessions.
- Promote wellbeing and personal reflection through journaling and discussion.
Long-Term Goals
- Enable the community to continue meeting independently, without the need for hub facilitation.
- Strengthen emotional wellbeing, self-awareness, and social connection among participants.
- Position Lagoon of Thoughts as a replicable wellbeing initiative for other hubs.
Metrics

- Community Growth: Percentage of returning participants.
